Flight around Lithuania!

Around Lithuania – in six hours

First flight around Lithuania without landing

The already rich history of Aleksotas airfield was aded another aviation record

Five ultra light aircrafts CT-SW took off for a flight around Lithuania on July 2006, from Kaunas’ S.Dariaus and S.Girėno airfield, which is not only the first airfield in Lithuania, but one of the oldest ones in all Europe. This aircraft, judging by the flight and technical characteristics is one of the best ultralight aircrafts in the world. There are curently 6 CT-SWs in Lithuania, the aviators are intending to double that number shortly.

5h 48min was enough to finish route Kaunas-Šakiai-Girdžiai-Šilutėž-Kretinga-Mosėdis-Žemalė-Biržai-Rokiškis-Zarasai-Ignalina-Jašiūnai-Varėna-Marcinkonys-Druskininkai-Veisiejai-Bartininkai-Šakiai-Kaunas

1038 kilometers covered while flying in formation, average speed 180 km/h, fuel expenditure reached aprox. 15 liters per hour.

After the five two-men crews landed in Aleksotas, pilots rejoiced over a successful group flight (group flights are more complex), and no need for a fuel-up landing, while the tanks were still left with petrol after landing.
