Flight around the Baltic sea!
On July 6th 2009 Liekis pilots club ‘Alfa’s’ aircrafts lifted off for a flight around the Baltic sea – ‘Baltic flight 2009’. ‘Alfa’s’ six modern two-seated CT airplanes cleared the runway for a flight from Aleksotas, visiting 7 Baltic countries. During the seven day journey the planes landed in European Union countries’ airfields in – Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia. In total more than 25 hours were spent airborne, approximately 4500 kilometers covered.

Pilots dedicated the flight to Lithuanias thousandth anniversary and the ANBO pilots’ flight around Europe 75th anniversary. Souvenirs from Lithuania brought other nationals information about our country and its’ achievements. Meetings with social, political, cultural representatives and Lithuania’s comunity members were held abroad.
On July 2nd a seeing-off ceremonie was held in S.Dariaus and S.Girėno airfield, which was attended by the mayor of Kaunas Andrius Kupčinskas. The city leader presented the pilots with the flag of Kaunas and wished a succesful and safe flight.
Pilots derived inspiration for the flight from our history – honouring famous pilots, constructors, their achievements of national importance. The take off from S.Dariaus and S.Girėno airfield, one of the oldest airfields in Europe, is also a sign of honouring the cultural heritage. Lithuanian pilots had already reached the Strait of Gibraltar and flown around Lithuania without landing in the CT aircrafts and have been proven not once or twice that these ultralight aircrafts are exrteemely reliable, fast, economic and promising in any activity, starting by teaching to fly and ending with special works while airborne.
Route participants: Dalius Liekis and Vytautas Selelionis (CTLS aircraft registration LY-UAP), Robertas Pakrosnis and Paulius Pakrosnis (CTSW, LY-UPK), Lukas Liekis and Povilas Liberis (CTSW, LY-USA), Gediminas Bagdonavičius and Rūta Bagdonavičienė (CTSW, LY-BMW), Laimis Akramas and Tadas Blaževičius (CTSW, LY-ULK), in Germany we were joined by Ziegmar Sprenger, famous for completing a route to America with a CT plane, and Bodo Scheller (CTLS, DE-LAI).
